Yesterday I set up a gofundme account to help raise money for a wheelchair accessible van for Henry so we can get him around easier. I want to say thank you to those who have donated so far, it is so appreciated!
There have been a few other wonderful people who have done fundraiser towards this van and I am so grateful for them. We have had such awesome support from our community of Corona, from the residents and local politicians to our great fire department, especially Station 1. These men have gone above and beyond for Henry and it warms my heart every time I see Henry interact with them! It has truly been a blessing and my husband and I don't feel so alone. We felt like we were on our own after Henry fractured his leg, the challenges grew each day and they are still growing today, but knowing we have such awesome support from our community keeps us smiling.
A few people have asked us about our vehicle situation, I hope this helps with a little more of an understanding of where we are with our situation. Our vehicle situation right now is tough. We have a '99 Chevy Tahoe and a 2002 GMC Envoy. I use to drive the Tahoe, but loading Henry into it has become impossible, so my hubby and I switched. Now I drive the Envoy which is a lot lower than the Tahoe so I don't have to lift Henry as high to get him in, plus the leather seats help out a lot too. Unfortunately, both trucks don't run so great and a lot of money has already been put into both of them. Every time we fix one thing, something else needs to be fixed. So we just hold our breath when we're driving and pray God keeps us from breaking down on the road somewhere. We live on such a small income, we just don't have the money to fix our trucks every time they decide to break down on us. A wheelchair accessible van will help us all out in more ways than one. Our goal is to purchase one from Better Life Mobility in Riverside so we will have a warranty and out of pocket repairs are tax deductible! That is a big relief just in itself!
We really appreciate all of the prayers, the love and the support from everyone!
If anyone ever has any questions, please feel free to ask. I don't mind the questions, I really want to help educate people about Henry's disease. There are a lot of boy's effected by this disease and no one really understands what the child, the siblings and the parents are going through. It's not easy knowing your little boy has a shorter life span than your other precious child or children. It is a lonely feeling and we as a family don't seek sympathy, just understanding. I don't mind helping people to understand, I will admit that I am blunt and to the point, I do drama to well, so please forgive me if I ever seem to straight forward. I do think about other peoples feelings, I just leave out the drama! With that said, the next time you see a little boy trotting along on his toes, walking really slow and falling a lot, don't judge him, his muscles are weak and he is doing the best he can.
God Bless
